Feeling embarrassed, Sophie defended herself. “I’m not! Mercer and I met and fell in love first. We were dating when she wasn’t even in the picture!”
Alicia scoffed. “Who hasn’t had a few romances? Are you saying all the ex–girlfriends can come crawling out of the woodwork? So they can go ahead and break up families?”
“You…” The eloquent Sophie was no match for the hot–tempered Alicia. She was so flustered that she couldn’t even speak.
Alicia then put her hands on her hips, pacing back and forth as she shouted, “Everyone, come take a look! This is Riverford’s most shameless mistress of the year!
“She seduced a married man and wrecked a family. Now she’s here harassing the wife who just gave birth and got discharged. This is intolerable! Completely unacceptable!”
