At this moment, Jasmine lowered her gaze and dared not look into Harlan’s eyes.
“I’ve been taking care of her for so long, but I haven’t seen her husband more than a handful of times. I can’t reach him now. I heard… he went abroad.”

Just then, the door of the delivery room opened again, and a doctor came out with papers and a pen. She called out, “Is Calla Sherman’s family member here?”
Harlan hurried over. “Doctor, how is she now?”
“It’s not looking good at the moment, but we’re doing our best. Are you her husband? We need a family member to sign here,” the doctor notified Harlan as she handed him the papers and pen.
Harlan knew it was hospital protocol that only family members could sign, but given the critical situation, he didn’t hesitate. He took the pen and left his signature.
After signing, the doctor took the papers back into the delivery room.
What followed was a long wait. Two hours passed, but there were still no updates from inside.
At that moment, a few figures appeared at the staircase. The man in the forefront, wearing a black cashmere coat, swiftly approached Jasmine.
“How is she?” Mercer grabbed Jasmine’s shoulder, his anxiety written all over his face.
Rose and Sophie followed closely behind Mercer, standing in front of the delivery room.
“The doctor said… it’s an obstructed labor,” Jasmine replied fearfully, never having seen Mercer so worried before.
Mercer released Jasmine and ran his hand through his hair when he heard those words. With his eyes fixed on the delivery room door, he was clearly concerned and nervous.
In the next moment, Harlan suddenly walked up to Mercer and asked coldly, “Are you Calla’s husband?”
“Why are you here?” Mercer replied glumly upon seeing Harlan.
Harlan swiftly threw a punch at Mercer and angrily pointed at him. “Is this how you take care of Calla? She’s about to give birth, and you’re in every other corner of the world. Do you know how dangerous her situation is right now?”
Seeing Mercer get hit, Rose and Sophie stepped forward, intentionally escalating the situation.
“Who do you think you are? How dare you hit my son?” Rose questioned.
“Who are you to Calla to be reprimanding someone else?” Sophie added from behind.
Mercer gestured for Rose and Sophie to stay out of it, then grabbed Harlan by the collar and demanded, ” Why are you here? Who told you to come?”
“She doesn’t have anyone reliable by her side. Shouldn’t I be here?” Harlan justified.
“I’m enough for her. Now please leave immediately!” Mercer’s cheek was already bruised.
*No. I’ll only leave after I see her safely deliver!” Harlan insisted, concerned for Calla.
Hearing that, Mercer frowned and threw a punch at Harlan.
Harlan was knocked down. Refusing to submit, he quickly got up and attacked Mercer.
Mercer demanded, “I’m Calla’s man. Who the fuck are you?”
“I’m nothing to her, but I can’t trust her with you!”
“Do you want to get beaten up again?”
Harlan did not back down. “As long as I see her safe, I don’t care how many punches I take from you!”
“You!”
-The two fought so fiercely that Rose and Sophie couldn’t pull them apart.
Just then, the door to the delivery room opened, and the doctor who had come out earlier appeared again.
